Confidentiality
What you share in therapy stays between you and your therapist. We don't discuss it with family, employers, schools or anyone else without your written consent. This page explains how that works and the few situations where the law or your safety requires us to act differently.
When we may share information
We will only share information without your consent when:
- we believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself
- we believe someone else is at serious risk of harm
- we learn that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected
- a court orders us to release records
Where it is safe and possible, we will talk to you first and share only what is needed to keep people safe.
Clinical supervision
Like all registered practitioners, our therapists discuss their work with a clinical supervisor to keep care to a high standard. These conversations leave out your name and any details that could identify you.
Children and teenagers
Children need a private space to talk, and parents need to know how their child is doing. Before therapy starts, we agree with the parent or guardian and the child what will be shared. Usually that means parents hear about general progress, themes and how they can help at home, while the child's own words stay private.
If a child tells us something that puts their safety at risk, we will act on it, and we will tell the child before we do wherever we can. A parent or legal guardian must consent before we start working with anyone under 18.
Work arranged by an employer or school
When an organization pays for or refers you to sessions, we may confirm that you attended if you agree to that. We don't share what you discussed. Reports from corporate wellness programmes use combined, anonymous findings only.
Virtual sessions
We hold teletherapy sessions on secure platforms and from a private room. Please join from somewhere you won't be overheard. We don't record sessions.
Records
We keep session notes securely and only for as long as our professional and legal obligations require. You can ask to see the information we hold about you. Our Privacy Policy explains your data rights.
